JP - Common Install Problems
When you run the setup program or any install program for that matter, it ask you to do the following.
- This line is very important:
- Setup cannot install system files or update shared files if they are in use.
- Before proceeding, we recommend that you close any applications you may be running.
If you see any icons next to your system clock then you have other applications running.
Try right clicking them and see if you can shut them down.
If you use Ctrl + Alt + Del before you run the setup you should see only one thing running--> Explorer
To insure that JewelPro will install with all long file names you can download and install this temporary program.
FixRBT.zip 1.36 MB - This program is a temporary dummy program that does not have a long file name.
Install to all the defaults that are asked.
SYMPTOMS - When installing, the package contains one or more long file names, an error similar to the following occurs and the installation terminates:Cannot read source file c:\Windows\temp\rbt5632.tmp
SPECIAL NOTES: If need to reboot and you receive a line like this after rebooting read the above mentioned you probably have a program running in the back ground deleting the temporary files after the reboot. More than likely a virus scanner is deleting the files turn it off. (If you want to check it check before you run the setup fine, but turn it off before you run the setup.)
CAUSE - This problem is caused by mismatched components on the target system. Once an install has been made successfully, the problem does not recur.
After you have installed the dummy program please leave it where it is.
Then Reboot your system.
Then install the program you were having trouble with installing.
Did this solve the problem?
If so you can now uninstall this dummy program it has no other use,
your system should now read long file names and in the future too.
If this solved the problem then go to your start menu
then Settings
then Control Panel
then Add/Remove Programs
then scroll down the list until you see the program
(Fix RBTnnnnTMP)
then select it
then click the remove button

SYMPTOMS - While attempting to install the application, one of the following errors occurs:
Could not open the file named: c:\windows\temp\rbtname.tmp
Cannot find the source file ' c:\windows\temp\rbtname.tmp' to install.
Cannot find file ' c:\windows\temp\rbtname.tmp. Please insert disk'.
Once one of these errors occurs, the installation does not complete successfully.
CAUSE - This error occurs because the drive from which installation is running does not support long filenames and the specific file referenced in the error message contains a long filename. This problem is most common with CD-ROM drives whose driver is out of date and does not offer support for long filenames. However, this problem can also occur on any other drives (network, floppies, and so forth) that also lack support for this feature.
RESOLUTION - Obtain and install an updated driver that adds support for long filenames on the device in question.
OTHER Causes: If your temporary folder is located on another drive other than the one the Windows folder is located on, this can lead to this problem. If this is true then set your temporary folder on the same drive as the Windows folder.
Check before attempting again: If the program fails then this will leave the temporary setup files in the Windows folder. You should check for these files JewelP1.cab etc. and delete them before attempting the install again.
